Data Protection Commissioner issues decision concerning an online platform

On 17/09/2026 the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection issued a decision concerning the operation of an online application/web platform, finding a breach of the obligation to cooperate with the Data Protection Authority.
The decision serves as a reminder that cooperation with the supervisory authority is an important aspect of GDPR compliance, particularly where organisations are required to provide information or otherwise engage with the Authority in relation to their processing activities.
As regulatory scrutiny continues to evolve, organisations should ensure that their data protection practices, procedures and interactions with the supervisory authority are properly managed and documented.
Our team supports businesses in developing and strengthening their GDPR compliance frameworks, from reviewing data protection policies and procedures to advising on day-to-day processing activities. We also assist with preparing responses to regulatory requests, managing correspondence with the Data Protection Authority and advising throughout investigations and enforcement proceedings. Our approach focuses on practical, tailored guidance to help organisations identify compliance gaps, implement corrective measures and document how they meet their data protection obligations.
