Safeguarding the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) may play a key role to the success and reputation of a business. Owning an IP, such as a trademark, a patent or a domain, substantially increases the market value of the related product and hence the Company’s and it is considered as a valuable tool to businesses seeking for investors.

Our IP team has extensive experience on advising clients on how to protect their IPR in the local and international market and thus gain a competitive advantage. Our experience includes successfully registering well-known IPs with the Cyprus Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (Registrar), with the EUIPO and WIPO.

While advising on matters of IPR, we also guide our clients on how to best utilize the tax incentives provided by the Cyprus government especially under the Cyprus IP Box regime, of the overall strategy of the country to establish Cyprus as an international business center.

Specifically, our IP team can assist our clients as follows:

• Drafting and negotiating assignment and licensing agreements over IPR
• Drafting security assignment agreements over IPR
• Conducting due diligence checks over the IPR to identify if the relevant IP has been properly registered, or if all renewable fees have been paid, if it is assignable or not or if it can be licensed, as well as to check what classes/services the relevant trade mark covers
• Preparing the application of National, European or International registration of the IPR and assisting with the necessary filings with the Registrar, EUIPO and/or the WIPO
• Assisting with the registration/ notification of the assignment or licensing of an IPR and any amendments to the details of the owners of the IPR
